Getting ready

Well, getting ready for the "big trip" has taken on obsessive proportions as D(eparture)-day approaches. Leslie: making arrangements for pre- and post-"Expedition" travel -- hotel reservations in London and Vienna, "oyster card" for travel on the tube, etc. in London, flights from Dublin-->London and London-->Frankfurt, learning how to set up a blog! Bob: getting the right camera gear and figuring out how to carry it all, getting familiar with "Lightroom," the software he'll use to manage the thousands of photos he plans on taking! Both: luggage choices, clothing choices -- the first 8 days in Ireland will be chilly and probably wet, then Mali - the first stop on the Nat'l Geog. tour - is supposed to be up into the 100s! -- medications for the duration, and of course the shots and the visa applications. Just got our passports back yesterday! Checklists!

Bob + camera = happy traveler

  1. Hurrah. You are probably in Ireland by now. Hope the car, exactly like yours at home, is comfy and your guide fun. Looking forward to photos and some thoughts about what is happening with you. Much love, Louise

  8. Bob, The photos I have seen up to now are particularly perfect. I really mean it. Very Nice!. However, taking photos, downloading, uploading, writing and learning the blog. You are on overload. Don't worry about us, we'll catch up to you. Enjoy your trip. I learned this the hard way.

Leslie. What a trooper you have to be. I know you want to help, but Bob will..... well, you know.

  9. Dear Leslie & Bob:

Thanks for sharing your wonderful trip with your friends at home and greetings from PG on a rainy, cool afternoon. After a beautiful warm weekend this weather came as quite a shock. I spent the morning making membership TY calls for MPCC and had lunch with Judy (who sends her regards). Their world seems to be calming down to business.

Louise and I just spent a valuable couple of hours strategizing her fundraising campaign. Mom spent Friday night at CHOMP with an accelerated heart rate. By Sunday she was back at the Manor and ready to go out to lunch! She is amazing. Kari and the kids arrive tomorrow.

All is well here. Can't wait to hear if you enjoyed "War Horse".

    Fondly,
    Marilynn
